Yokohama Avid TRZ Tire Review

The Yokohama Avid TRZ tire combines all-season traction and performance, with the comfort and quietness that you might not expect with a tire in this class. Built for most all cars and minivans, the Avid TRZ also features up to an 80,000 mile tread guarantee.

The tire itself sports an asymmetric tread design and gets the name TRZ from its "three ride zones". An inner zone provides better overall winter traction with more lateral grooves and sipe. The center zone of the tire has circumferential grooves that work in reducing the risk of hydroplaning and better evacuating water from under the tire. The outer zone includes continuous ribs and larger tread blocks which combine to give the tire better handling and cornering on dry roads.

Inside the tire are two steel belts and spiral wrapped nylon to give the TRZ more strength and durability, as well as a smoother and more comfortable ride.

Yokohama backs the Avid TRZ tire with a 5 year tread guarantee regardless of speed rating. The T-rated tires get up to 80,000 miles, while the H-rated models come with a 60,000 mile warranty. Tire uniformity is warranted for the first 2/32 inch of wear.

You will also find a 5 year guarantee on materials and workmanship. It calls for free tire replacement for the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear, followed up by a prorated amount for the remaining time period or until there is less than 2/32 inch of useable tread depth left.

Finally, Yokohama tires offers up a 30 day test drive guarantee whereby you can try it out and either refund or exchange it out for a different model in the event you are not happy.
