Kumho Ecsta 4X KU22 Tire Review

A true sports car tire is the new Kumho Ecsta 4X KU22. Designed for sport coupes or sedans, this Kumho model provides all-season traction to go with a comfortable ride. In fact this tire flies under the radar and surprised us a bit.

When you look at the tire you will see the attractive asymmetric design on the tread, but that is just the beginning. A special type of silica compound has been incorporated in the tread for the purpose of maximizing traction on varied surfaces.

A continuous notched center rib aids in providing added comfort and a more quiet ride. The notched rib also increases straight line tracking which is useful while driving on the highway.

The tire has a large outboard shoulder which aids in stability through varied terrains. The Ecsta 4X KU22 has great driving response and handles very well due to intermediate tread blocks. You're going to enjoy the cornering abilities on this tire for sure.

Driving on wet roads is another strong point with the Ecsta 4X KU22. Four large grooves on the circumference of the tire provide excellent traction in wet weather. Moreover, there are a large number of lateral grooves for greatly reducing the risk of hydroplaning due to the ability of the tread to push water away from beneath it. Traction in light to moderate snow is particularly good due to sipes placed strategically on the tread for enhanced grip in snow.

Inside the tread, twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped jointless cap plies provide support to the tire. They add more strength and enhance the handling capabilities at higher speeds at the same time.

Overall, the Kumho Ecsta 4X KU22 tire is an excellent high performance all-season tire. Grip in the corners is solid, and it handles equally as impressive on wet roads as it does on dry pavement. The ride is comfortable and the price makes it a very good value for the money.

Warranty

Kumho backs up the Ecsta 4X KU22 with a tread life warranty of 6 years or 40,000 miles. There is also a uniformity warranty of 1 year or the first 2/32 inches of wear.

Materials and workmanship are guaranteed for 6 years and call for a free replacement during the first 2/32 inches of wear. Kumho then prorates the amount down to the final 2/32 inches of useable tread depth.

You will also receive a road hazard warranty for the first 2/32 inches of wear.
