Hankook Icebear W300 Tire Review
Hankook Icebear W300 winter tires are built for sports sedans and coupes as an option to getting around in rough
winter weather conditions. Using their advanced tire technology, Hankook has given the Icebear an asymmetric tread
design that is attractive, yet functional to a degree.
When you look at the Hankook Icebear W300 tire you will notice the wider grooves on the tread, which assist in
providing better handling on all types of surfaces, but in particularly wet pavement.

Hankook has used an advanced compound for ensuring that the Icebear W300 is able to tackle all types of surfaces
including snow and ice. The Super Silica compound that has been applied in the tire, along with the many
circumferential grooves, creates enhanced grip on all types of surfaces. There is very little risk of hydroplaning
on wet surfaces due to the special compound and the waved kerfs which give the tire good grip. The tread has the
ability to flush water away from beneath the tire.
The Icebear W300 also has a lower rolling resistance which ensures more even tread wear, while also helping with
better overall fuel economy. This can be a money saver for those who do a lot of winter driving.
Dense siping on the tread makes it possible for the tire to perform in cold conditions as well. When you are
braking or maneuvering through a corner you'll notice the difference. This is due in part to the longitudinal rib
block on the tire which keeps it steady.
The Hankook Icebear W300 Tire is offered with a variety of speed ratings; from H to V grades. The higher speed
capabilities have been enabled by Hankook's Stiffness Control Contour Technology, which gives stability to the tire
at high speeds.
Overall the Hankook Icebear W300 is an about average to a little above as far as winter tires go. It drives
quite well on wet roads, but falls a bit short of the performance of other tires such as the Michelin X-Ice,
Bridgestone Blizzak or Yokohama Ice Guard when it comes to moderate or heavy snow and ice.
