General Altimax RT Tire Review

With all-season traction and a comfortable ride, the General Altimax RT tire is an excellent choice in a touring tire. The symmetrical tread design sports a silica tread compound for added strength and stability on wet or dry pavement.

General Tire calls their tread compound a Twin Cushion Silica Tread Compound. What it means is that it comes in basically two layers. The layer on top is more of an all-season compound, while the layer on the bottom is for providing a smoother and more comfortable ride.

Inside the tire you'll find twin steel belts and a polyester cord that gives the tire added strength at higher speeds, while also providing a more even tread wear. Speaking of tread wear, this Altimax RT is guaranteed for up to 70,000 miles. Overall, the RT may surprise you in how well it performs. It doesn't get the publicity of some of the other tires in its class, but it performs just as well and comes in at a good value.
