Dunlop Graspic DS-3 Tire Review
Dunlop has been manufacturing snow tires for a good many years now, and the Dunlop Graspic DS-3 is their latest
update in their studless winter tire lineup. It features the mountain/snowflake designation and works well in all
severe winter weather conditions.
The tire sports a unique silica-based glass fiber tread compound, which gives the tire much better grip
regardless of temperatures on both snow and ice. The compound works very well, but it must be noted that once the
tread depth goes to less than 45%, the rest of the tread is an all-season compound and not the silica enhanced
compound. This could also help explain why this tire retails at a lower cost than other models. This in no way is
inferior, but you should know about it upfront.
Independent tread blocks and additional Miura sipes, which are 3-D zig-zagged, combine to give excellent grip on
both snow and ice. Dunlop also incorporates the latest computer technology to help maximize tread life and by
providing for more even tread wear. Overall, we like this tire; it handles the roughest conditions and the tread
wear is good. For the price, the Graspic DS-3 is a solid value in winter tires.

Pros
- Excellent traction in light and heavy snow
- Comfortable ride that is above average
- Very good tread wear
Cons
- Only the first 55% of tread depth utilizes the better silica compound for traction, after that it is an
all-season compound
Warranty
Dunlop Tires does not have a mileage warranty on the Graspic DS3 tire, but that is not surprising since most
tire makers do not provide them. It does however carry a 6-month or first 2/32 inch of wear on the tire's
uniformity.
Materials and workmanship are covered for 6-years and this includes free tire replacement during the first year
or the first 2/32 inch of wear. Dunlop prorates this out for the remaining time period down until the final 2/32
inch of useable tread depth.
